Venture into West Toronto and you’ll be rewarded with a fascinating mix of attractions and things to do.
One of West Toronto’s most flavourful attractions is Bloor West Village, a West Toronto neighbourhood rich with reminders of its Eastern European heritage. Visitors to Bloor West Village will discover Polish and Ukrainian delis and bakeries along with coffee shops and boutiques — more than 400 shops, restaurants and services in all. Nearby lies High Park, a West Toronto attraction that attracts more than a million visitors every year. Highlights of the 399-acre West Toronto park include oak savannahs and rare plant species, an adventure playground, a zoo, a seasonal trackless train, historic Colborne Lodge and a summertime theatrical presentation, Dream in High Park. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy inline skating, cycling or walking along several trails in the nearby Humber River Valley.
Toronto’s aviation heritage is on display at the Toronto Aerospace Museum, located in Parc Downsview Park. Not only are the exhibits at the West Toronto museum historic, but the building itself is a part of history, as it once housed an aircraft factory. Another West Toronto heritage site is Black Creek Pioneer Village, a seasonal attraction that recreates life in an Ontario country village in the 1860s. The living history village showcases interpreters, artisans and more than 40 restored buildings, such as a grain barn, a cider mill and an outhouse.
West Toronto is also home to Canada’s largest water park, Wild Water Kingdom. Attractions at the 100-acre Toronto water park include bumper boats, waterslides, a wave pool, a lazy river, a rock climbing wall and a miniature golf course. Another fun-filled West Toronto attraction is RINX, a 125,000-square-foot indoor entertainment complex featuring interactive video games, ice rinks, laser tag, billiards, cosmic bowling and more.
Dr. Flea’s Flea Market is a top West Toronto shopping destination that’s open on weekends all year long. With more than 400 vendors, the West Toronto flea market claims to be the largest indoor flea market in Toronto. It also offers an outdoor farmer’s market and an international food court just 25 minutes from downtown Toronto.
